Where should I enter rice hulls in the databases....Grains or Extras (or does it really matter)? What fields should I enter?

Can I assume that if I rinse them well before adding them to the mash tun that I don't have to worry about changing the water absorption factor?

Should I add them at the beginning of the mash, or wait until the end and stir them in completely?

Add it into the grains database as a grain....Be SURE to enter in the potential SG as 1.0, NOT 0.0.  ProMash will take care of the rest. Add them at the begining of the mash....

Thanks Jeff.....do I need to soak them first so I don't goof up the Water Needed calculations?

Enter them in the grain bill as "Brewers Cut Natural Filter Media".  They will hardly soak up any water because they are insoluble.  They will factor in to your mash temp this way.
