Can you give us any insight as to when your new version will be out. I have been hearing rumors for the last couple years but I haven't heard anything from you. I know on the brewboards there is a lot of people inquiring about software but people are steering them away from promash because the of the newer software out there is more modern and up to date. I realize this is a big job for you but a lot of us loyal promash customers would like to upgrade when the revision is out. __________________ BelgianBoy

I've thought long and hard about the appropriate answer to this question, and because I like to keep my wife's personal life off of any forum I have since not mentioned much here but I suppose I do owe some folks an explanation of what is happening.
In Oct 2006 my wife was diagnosed with a large, late Stage 4 gleo-blastomic brain tumor with ganglion tendecies (I hope I spelled that all correctly). It is in-operable unless she wants to give up the small things like seeing, walking, things like that. In the course of the last year we have been to several universities and specialists. She started intense radiation and chemo therapy regime's the first of this year and just ended the last chemo treatment (for now) last month. Not asking for any tears, she is very strong and has a great sense of humor and I have every confidence she will get through this....however, thats the story. Needless to say, my life has been consumed with making sure she gets the best treatment available, deal with all the administrative bullshit from insurance companies, hosiptals and universties so she can focus on just getting well. Also trying to maintain the day gig(s) to pay for it all has proved quite a challenge.....even though we pay a small fortune in health insurance, there is still a lot that falls through the cracks of which it is the individuals reposibility for financially. So, when will ProMash 2.0 be released? I honestly cannot say at this point. Even though the majority of it is finished, it still needs quite a bit of coding to bring it to completion. This is something I most DEFINATELY intend to do. However, I simply cannot at this point in time give a hard date for release as I would be unsure I could hold to any date as life around here is a day to day thing at the present. I have been trying to maintain support for both the users and the retailers to the best of my ability and for the last year that's been about as much as I can do so, hopefully that will be changing soon. I'm sorry I cannot provide more details on a release date, I hope everyone understands I do still intend to release 2.0, I just cannot promise when right now. - Jeff __________________ Beer Engineer

Thanks for the update and the absolute best wishes and prays for you and your wife.
I have bought one of the competing products (one that runs on my Mac w/o going through Virtual PC). I like the format and the look of the program and the fact that there is a Mac version. However, as old and antiquated as ProMash is, it still is my favorite. I spent money on a ProMash competitor but have not opened the program in months and, once again, I am back to using ProMash exclusively now. I will patiently wait for an update knowing that I will still be able to formulate great beers with the current version.

Take your time on 2.0. I thought I would write to say that one of my closest friends was diagnosed in 1996 with glioblastoma stage 4 and is doing phenomenally well nearly 12 years later. You and your wife are in my prayers. I know this is a beer forum, but to me, it's can be more than that, it's a community of people. Best to you and your wife. Drew __________________

Here is just another well wishing and a confirmation that people (me at the least) are still hoping that all goes well for your family.
My prayers are that your wife is dong well and we will see you soon, back hard at work on the best software for brewing available to home brewers. __________________ PrOst!

If it is not too personal, is your wife doing ok? I have just discovered ProMash but I know that encouragement and support can be critical at times like this. Hope you and your's are holding up well. Prayers are sent for you, Paul

I'd like to echo the same sentiment as Paul. I had not been on this forum in years, and had no idea about this situation. I am truly sorry to hear about the crisis you are dealing with, and my prayers will be with you and your family. I've been a ProMash user since v1.0; made well over 500 batches with it. It's the finest software program I've ever bought, of any kind, and undoubtedly the best 25 bucks I ever spent. Customer support has been better than any I've ever seen for any product. If and when v2.0 is released, I will be the first in line to buy it! Again, you have my sincere condolences and will be in my prayers. All the best, Johnny

It works in Vista; I can't see why it wouldn't work in Windows 7. From everything I've heard, Windows 7 is just a de-bugged version of Vista. After some consternation and gnashing of teeth, I've actually gotten Vista to work pretty well for me. About as well as any of the previous versions of Windows.

Looks like nobody responded to the last question. Promash works just fine in Windows 7. I'm running the 32bit version and haven't had any problems that I'm aware of.
