I just checked to see if there was a new version and read that it might be available in a few months.

How's it going?  Is there going to be a new one soon?

It's still quite a ways off......we will make some type of schedule announcement in the next couple of months.

Sometime in 2007 is all I can say at the moment. I understand the needs and wants of the new rev and I would say it's about 70% done at the present. As I have stated previously, I want 2.0 to last another 10 years down the road and as such I am not going to rush it out the door until I am 100% satisfied with it.  The big problem for me right now is that my beautiful wife is having some major medical issues that will keep me off of it (and anything else) for the next month or two but hopefully soon the crisis will be over and I will be back onto it full bore in late January to finish it up.

Sorry to hear about your wife.

It is a very stressful time when family medical problems arise.

I hope for the best outcome for your wife.

This might not be a popular idea with some folks but....

I would be more then willing to pay for an "upgrade" rather then an update.

Been using ProMash since '03 and am still impressed with the functionality.

Best wishes on the health and home front issues.

I have been a ProMash user since the last century! I'm not certain that money is what is keeping Jeff from getting 2.0 out (I am also aware of family health problems) but I too would pay a reasonable fee if the program was significantly upgraded. Hell, if it was ported to Mac I would pay the full price and then some. I am using ProMash through Virtual PC 7.0. Although not that big of a PITA, a Mac version would be mucho better.

I will have to admit that I have purchased BeerTools Pro (BTP) because of its Mac interface. It is pretty slick but I am having problems undoing my ProMash brain so that I can think in BTP terms. I don't like throwing money away but if 2.0 sheds its Windows 93 look and is updated to the 21st century, BTP will probably be relegated to the computer dust bin. As frustrated as I am with the antiquity of ProMash, it does everything I need it to do...and then some.

I must admit that I bought a competing product too. There are a few things I want to do that Promash doesn't and I got tired of waiting for an upgrade. But there are also things which Promash does better than the other program, like mash design and water usage calculations. So now I use both, recording my sessions in the other software and bringing up Promash to use the tools. Very inconvenient.

I can't remember what I paid for Promash but it wasn't much and I've gotten my money's worth out of it many, many times over. I'd gladly pay full price for an upgrade. The other stuff was cheap too, cheap enough that I'd bin it in a second if Promash ever does the things I want. I like Promash better and I'm willing to pay to keep it in development.

But it is currently about 1 week shy of 4 years since the last release, and 2.0 has been in "Real Soon Now" status for a long time. I know some of the reasons why (and I truly, truly hope that JD's wife is better, and not for the trivial reason that her health affects the development schedule). But in the end it really doesn't matter. It makes me sad, but I can see that, sooner or later, the inconvenience will get to me and I'll be bringing up Promash less and less.

I'll keep using Promash even at 1.8.a, it does everything I need.  Besides maybe 2.0 will be out as a Christmas present for '07?  I'd love to see it since I'm sure it's somewhere past 70% but not at 100% or it'd be posted.  I also hope JD's family situation has improved since his response near the beginning of this post, I can easily see why that would put a halt on things.

Hope all is well in 2007 JD, keep up the coding!
